The idea of STEW was thought up in early 2007 by two Monash students, Emil Kogan and Edleweiss Goh.  The founding committee comprising Esther Ooi, Danielle Pogos, Melissa Aveling, Sarah Man, Meryl Lewis and Edleweiss Goh developed the idea and set out to establish STEW as an active club. STEW became an official Monash club in August 2007. Since its establishment, STEW has grown from the original six members to over a hundred.
