New Training Sessions for Semester 2, 2009 Confirmed
STEW is excited to announce that we have finalised training dates for semester two with AMES. Please check our Events Calendar for more details.
If you are interested in volunteering and training with STEW please email Dani Pogos (stew@monashclubs.org) with the heading 'Semester 2 Training'. Please include your suburb, whether or not you have access to a car and whether or not if you are prepared to travel to Noble Park or Dandenong (these areas have the highest demand for volunteers). Please let us know ASAP so we can work together with AMES in organising suitable volunteer-student match-ups early.
EGM Update: STEW Welcomes A New Committee Member
Times are changing here at STEW and we have a new committee member, Ben Farrell. Welcome!
Ben will be replacing Sian Harrick as our new Socials and Events Officer as she heads off to Malaysia for an exchange program. Ben has lots of socially-fun stuff in store for next semester so we look forward to seeing each and everyone one of you at our events!
STEW Resource Library: Can you help us?
STEW is growing- we currently have 50 active volunteers! We wish to develop a Resource Library that will be filled with educational support material, it will include children's books, board games, white boards, calculators, clocks, magazines, magnetic letters and DVDs to assist in the learning of your student. In order to build this library we need your support.
We welcome any donations from our STEW community that is kept in good condition. Also, if you know of anyone who may be able to assist us in terms of corporate sponsorship (inkind or financial) for our library please contact Esther Ooi (president@stew.org.au).
Calling All Creative Individuals!
The STEW support base is changing and our current logo is no longer suitable. We would like to open up the floor to all our members to contribute a new logo for STEW. It must fit in with our vision of empowering refugees and migrants in our local community. Unfortunately there are no prizes for the logo design, just pride and the knowledge that none of the committee are terribly artistic. Please email any ideas, thoughts or logos to Esther (president@stew.org.au).
